A DC adventure
Erich often asks why we aren't taking the train whenever we happen to pass a metro station or train on our trips around town, so I promised him and Matthew a trip on the Metro last Saturday. These are the images of our adventure.
We parked at the Vienna Metro station, where Erich needed his own metro card (Matthew was in charge of mine). We got off at the Smithsonian stop. As we walked along the National Mall, we saw the carousel and had to take a ride. After that, we needed a snack to re-energize, so we shared some french fries. While we were eating the fries, we saw Santa and his elves passing out Beanie Baby turtles, and after some initial shyness, both boys talked to Santa. We then headed into the Air and Space Museum, where Erich explored Skylab.
We had lunch at the Museum of the American Indian. The boys loved the neat water feature outside the museum, and the happy little families of ducks that were swimming along.
Not yet tired after a long day, the boys played on some outdoor gym equipment before we headed back home on the Metro.
As we drove home from the Vienna Metro station, Matthew told me "I had a great day, Daddy!" and Erich heartily agreed.
Woo.

Erich's First Day of Kindergarten
He actually had to to tell us "It's OK Mommy and Daddy. Don't cry."
